She is best known as the DJ on the 5 – 10 a.m. spot on 98.1 The One, formerly Liberty, where she hypes up bleary-eyed morning listeners enough to make it to their jobs … or, as the case may be, hypes ’em up a little too much and makes ’em skip work until her shift is over. She’s also well known as the lead DJ for Witch Doctor Fridays at Café Jungles, and also for a strong association with the Passoa brand. And as producer of The One’s 5-minute radio show Pon De Circuit* , Hurricane’s kept busy sourcing local, regional and international content on music and entertainment for her listeners.
Hurricane started out in the music biz ‘almost by accident’, starting as a radio announcer and then training as a DJ. The St. Lucian-born Hurricane is one of the founding members of 3rd Dimension Entertainment which made its mark as an all-female DJ troupe. 3rd Dimension at one time included DJ Tammy, and Essence, but now comprises Hurricane and Firestarter. As part of 3rd Dimension, she has played in St. Lucia and Trinidad, and was also scheduled to play in The Bahamas but, ironically, a hurricane devastated that country during the time she was scheduled to travel.
She has a love for music in all forms, but has a special passion for Caribbean music -- in particular the music of Bob Marley, Ja Cure and Vibez Cartel. Hurricane notes that the foundation is now laid by artistes such as Rupee, Kevin Lyttle and Sean Paul for other Caribbean musicians to break onto the international music scene.
Although not a health nut (cross-reference her hysterical laugh when asked about whether she practices yoga), she is a vegetarian and describes her diet as perhaps her one discipline. When asked about her philosophy on life, she responds that although she takes life very seriously, she doesn’t take herself too seriously.

For those of you who expected us here at Circuit to saturate the preceding article with ambiguous references to Hurricane the DJ and hurricane the natural disaster, we decided that there were simply too many of those wisecracks to choose from. In the interest of not becoming too predictable to our readers, we have decided to omit all such smart-alec remarks from the article.
